Kelly joined the team at Black Swan in 2015 having started her career as a dental nurse in 2002 and obtaining her National Certificate 2007. Her extensive range of experience means that she is able to turn her hand to all aspects of dental nursing and she particularly enjoys working on the surgical side of dentistry.
She holds a qualification in Dental Radiology and has just embarked on the challenging role of Implant Co-ordinator, which will see her involved with every element of the Dental Implant patients’ journey.
An organised and efficient, as well as a caring, individual she has also been involved with stock control and staff rotas.
Away from Black Swan she has the joy of being the mum of a two-year-old son and, when time allows, enjoys her friends, running and a good book.
Sandra started her career as a dental nurse in Sharjah in the UAE in the 1980s where the experience of doing “everything” including reception work has stood in her in good stead for the rest of her career. Her dedication saw her qualify by taking a correspondence course through Bristol Dental Hospital and then returning to the UK to sit, and pass, her exams at Guys Hospital.
On returning to the UK in 1999 she worked in London and then relocated to Dorset where she joined a practice than subsequently merged with Black Swan. A true team player, Sandra thrives on helping gain the trust and confidence of nervous patients.
With an enquiring mind she is always seeking to expand her knowledge both of her profession and in other areas. In recent times she has studied with the Open University and completed a counselling course. She enjoys the gym, walking and sailing.
Julia has been involved in dentistry since 1988 gaining her national certificate for dental nurses in 2000.
She has also achieved the certificate in implantology.
Her time in dentistry has also seen her working as a receptionist and a practice manager, this invaluable experience makes her a well rounded team manager. But it is caring for patients as Dental Nurse which she enjoys most and “where her heart lies”.
Andrea had worked in dentistry for over 20 years and joined the team at Black Swan Dental Spa in September 2016. She thoroughly enjoys being part of the team and relishes being able to take on many roles including dental nursing, finance administration, reception work and organising our specialist dental services. She particularly enjoys working on cosmetic dentistry and facial rejuvenation and loves to be able to help patients achieve the smiles they long for which generate the confidence they deserve.
Away from Black Swan, Andrea enjoys spending time with her children and travelling, in particular to her favourite destination New York. In summer she loves spending time in her garden and cycling around the Somerset countryside.
With a particular talent for helping our most nervous patients feel at ease she can always be found with a big smile on her face.
Lauren is helping Black Swan to become a family practice in more ways than one. Having done her work experience with us she went on to join the team straight from school and is now working alongside her mum and aunt.
Her enthusiasm over the past 30 months has seen her gain her Dental Nurse qualification and spend time as part of our front of house team in reception.
Lauren has shown great flexibility since she became part of the Black Swan team. She will happily turn her hand to anything and has become an integral part of the practice open evenings and has even shown an aptitude for interior design and decoration.
Although she is the youngest team member she has grown to become a mature and responsible individual liked and respected by patients and colleagues alike.
Away from work she is an outdoor girl who loves walking and climbing.
Fiona Swinnerton has been a dental nurse for over a decade and qualified with the National Certificate for Dental Nurses in November 2008.
A true team member with a friendly and sympathetic nature and a reassuring manner she is dedicated to making every visit the best it can possibly be for all her patients.
Like all members of the Black Swan Team she has been encouraged to expand her knowledge of all aspects of dentistry. At present she is studying radiography and will, hopefully qualify in September 2017.
Fiona relaxes with family days out, long walks and swimming.
Sarah is one of our dedicated team of Dental Nurses. After an early career in pharmacy dispensing she made the move to Dental Care in 2004 and obtained her National Certificate in Dental Nursing a few years later.
Adaptable, experienced and caring she is happiest when helping her patients control and overcome any fears they may have. “Dentistry can sometimes have a poor reputation but I know the benefits and life changing results we can deliver for our patients.”
